Getting to New York from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport will now be a little easier.  Starting November 15, 2006, AirTran Airways will begin direct service to New York LaGuardia Airport, with fares starting as low as $99* each way.

Direct service, sometimes referred to as a through flight, is different from a non-stop flight in that it stops in Atlanta, but the passenger does not change planes.  There is no worry about missing a connection or losing luggage when a passenger stays on the plane.

“This direct flight will certainly make flying to New York much smoother,” said Victor White, Director of Airports. “Plus, the low fares on AirTran Airways make it affordable for families who will be traveling for the holidays,” said White.

The direct flight will be the 4:20 p.m. departure.  On the return flight to Wichita, there will be a stop and change of planes in Atlanta.

*All fares are non-refundable and a $50 fee per person applies to any change made after purchase through December 31, 2006, plus any applicable increase in airfare.  A $60 fee per person will apply to changes made after December 31, 2006, plus any applicable increase in airfare. Reservations may be obtained or changed through an AirTran Airways Telephone Reservations Center for an additional $5 per person. 14-day advance purchase required. Fares, routes, and schedules are subject to change without notice. Fares do not include per-segment tax of $3.30. A segment is defined as one takeoff and one landing. The September 11th security fee of up to $10 is not included. Airport Passenger Facility Charges of up to $18 are not included.
