Wichita Mid-Continent Airport set a traffic record with 151,236 pasengers in June, surpassing the previous record of 145,636 set in June 2004. The record also marks an increase of 10.22% over June 2006 and nine consecutive months of passenger traffic increases at Mid-Continent. For the year, passenger traffic is up 6.22%.
“The rising traffic numbers are the latest example that the affordable airfare collaboration is successful," Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer said. "Affordable airfares are tremendously important to the local and state economy."
"It’s great to see more people taking advantage of the fine air service offered at Mid-Continent,” commented Victor White, Director of Airports. “This is monumental and promising. With non-stop LAX service starting this month, and Frontier’s low-fare service coming in October, the future looks even brighter. This is gearing up to be a great year at Mid-Continent Airport,” commented Valerie Wise, Air Service Manager.
