Mid-Continent Airport Reports an August  Traffic Record

141,444 passengers traveled through the airport in August

Passenger traffic at Mid-Continent Airport continues to climb by setting a new August record of 141,444 total passengers, which is an increase of 17.52% over August 2006, or 21,082 more passengers than last August. This is the eleventh consecutive month that passenger traffic has increased at Mid-Continent.  For the year, passenger traffic is up 8.60%.  According to the DOT’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics, U.S. passenger traffic is up 2.5% (through June 2007).

“We continue to be excited to see these numbers because it represents new traffic at ICT.  More and more passengers are finding the value of using Mid-Continent Airport.  When Frontier Airlines starts service on October 1, the low fares it will bring to Denver and the west will stimulate the market even more,” commented Valerie Wise, Air Service and Business Development Manager.

“We appreciate the support of Mid-Continent Airport by the passengers in this region.  Keeping travel dollars in Kansas is beneficial to all of us as those dollars are necessary for airport improvements, enhanced air service, and increased tax revenue to the State of Kansas,” stated Charlie Fletcher, Wichita Airport Advisory Board Chairman.
